AWANA 2023/2024 year

Awana will begin August 30th! Drop-off starts at 6:30 PM. Starting time is 6:45 PM.  Due to the number of volunteers available and other circumstances out of our control each Club has a limited number of spaces.

The cost this year for Awana is $40 per clubber.  This price includes one book, awards, club night activities and a Genesis Kids Awana t-shirt. Sparks and Cubbies are also required to wear a vest as part of their uniform. The cost of the vest is $20.

As we gain more leaders, we will be able to open more spots for clubbers.  If you are interested in serving and helping open more spots, contact us at awana@genesisyork.com.

ABOUT

Awana stands for: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. Awana offers programs for children 2 years old through 6th grade. Included in the program is a game time, Bible lesson and handbook time (learning Bible verses).

MISSION STATEMENT:

To partner with families in training their children to...

  • Know God

  • Love God passionately

  • Love others genuinely

  • Serve Christ boldly

THE CLUBS INCLUDE:

Puggles – is for children who are at least 2 years old by September 1st. They learn simple lessons through teaching cards, activities, music and more. Then parents, a child’s first and best teacher, can step in to reinforce the lessons with take-home cards that include activities to help point out God’s work every day. Puggles plants seeds of faith and teaches toddlers that they are a unique creation of God and that He loves them very much.

Cubbies – is the Awana club for preschool children ages 3-5 years old. Games, puppets, crafts, music, awards and other activities transform this program into a lively experience where fun and learning go hand in hand. On Wednesday nights caring, committed leaders nurture our Cubbies. During the week parents work with their children through a bible-centered handbook to help them begin to understand some of the key concepts about God, Jesus, salvation and the bible.

Sparks – is the AWANA Club for children in kindergarten through second grade. The aim of this club is to take youngsters a step deeper into God’s Word while giving them regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching at the preschool level, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as their personal Savior while in Sparks.

Sparks combines learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement. Each week they will play team-oriented games on the AWANA circle, hear a bible message and work with their leaders in their handbooks to earn awards.

The Sparks curriculum takes the children on a chronological trip through God’s Word.

Truth and Training – (Also known as Awana T&T) The name Truth and Training reflects the passion of AWANA to reach third through sixth grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow today.

T&T clubbers also have the opportunity to participate in several special events each year like our Grand Prix (a pinewood derby race), AWANA games and Bible Quizzing. In addition, the directors for each club plan several outings and activities designed for fun and relationship building during the year.

Student Leaders – are teens who serve in the Awana program. They are yesterday’s Clubbers and Today’s Leaders. The purpose of our student leader program is to help middle school and high school students develop their spiritual gifts while allowing them to serve in the local church. Participation in the student leader program is a privilege, and as such, students must qualify and agree to uphold the Awana standards as well as continue to be in God’s Word and work in handbooks as well.
